Balaye
How it works
The steps, in order
- Pick a place
- Sweep
- Nothing is lost
Tidying a Mac is one decision per file, which is exactly why nobody does it. Balaye asks for one at a time: one file, one card, its real preview. Swipe left and it goes to the Trash; swipe right and you keep it; swipe up and you will look at it later. Screenshots, forgotten downloads, big files, old archives — the pile comes down line by line.
You give it whatever place you want: the picker, or a folder dropped onto the window. It leans on Spotlight, so the list appears straight away, and it recognises a screenshot by the mark macOS leaves on it, even after the file has been renamed. When there is a lot to get through, batch mode lays the files out in a grid and whole folders go at once.
Nothing is ever deleted: everything goes to the Trash, and nothing leaves it without you. ⌘Z undoes the last file, ⇧⌘Z undoes the whole session. From the keyboard: ← Trash, → keep, ↑ later, space to preview, ⌘R to open in the Finder.
No account, no server, no tracker — nothing leaves the Mac. macOS 14 or later. Free, with no subscription and no pro version. The app's own interface is in French for now.
